SUBANG JAYA – The Selangor state government has refuted allegations that the demolition of Shah Alam Stadium, which will be replaced by Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA), is motivated by the upcoming state election.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that the demolition work would have been carried out in June if the allegations were true.

He clarified that he is simply following the original plan and has scheduled to resume the strategic plan in September or October.

“The idea for this development was devised in 2008 during the tenure of (former Menteri Besar) Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, but no action was taken then.

“Alhamdulillah, I have been given the opportunity to push this project forward and have reached the stage of identifying the plan. We are currently in the process of verifying the cost to ensure it remains within reasonable limits,” he explained during the Yayasan Selangor Strategic Action Plan and New Logo Launching Ceremony held at a hotel here earlier today.

Amirudin noted that the project will benefit all parties involved and incorporate plans for flood mitigation and traffic dispersal.

“This area experiences heavy traffic, particularly in the late afternoon, and is prone to frequent flooding. Therefore, the project timeline has been extended slightly to consider a comprehensive traffic distribution plan,” he added.

Earlier, Amirudin clarified that the development was not his personal aspiration but a collective desire of Selangor’s Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, and Selangor football supporters.
