Borneo Eco Film Festival launches online screening on July 14
KOTA KINABALU, July 11 — Borneo Eco Film Festival (BEFF) is launching its BEFF365 programme with its first online screening of the documentary film Sharkwater: Extinction on July 14 at 9 pm.
In a press statement here, the screening is in conjunction with Shark Awareness Day and will be held on BEFF’s website at https://beff.org.my.
The award-winning Sharkwater: Extinction is a thrilling and inspiring action-packed journey that follows filmmaker Rob Stewart as he exposes the massive illegal shark fin industry and the political corruption behind it, leading to the extinction of sharks.
“This year’s line-up of films features both local and international award-winning films that highlight environmental and social issues, as well as the importance of biodiversity,” said the statement.
There are at least 10 films scheduled throughout the latter half of 2020 for viewers to enjoy, and all for free.
The audience will be able to interact with selected panellists from various fields, and also with the filmmakers of the featured film, all the way from across the globe.
BEFF365 is organised by the voluntary body, Melapi (Society for Holistic Outreach, Research and Environmental Action). BEFF is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Movies That Matter (MtM) and Shared Earth Foundation, among others.
BEFF is also a member of the Green Film Network (GFN) – a network of environmental film festivals around the world.
