Aston Villa could still sign ‘outstanding’ player in next few days
Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa could sign Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough in the final days of the January transfer window.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who has reported how much Villa would have to pay for Rogers.

So, what has been reported about Aston VillaMiddlesbrough and Morgan Rogers? Let’s take a look.

Aston Villa could sign Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough

Well, according to journalist Dean Jones in GiveMeSport, Aston Villa are interested in signing Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough before the January transfer window closes this week.

Jones has reported that if Villa made an offer of more than £10 million for Rogers, then they would be able to get a deal done.

The reporter has noted that Middlesbrough are not overly reliant on the 21-year-old attacker, so the Championship club could cash in on him at the right offer.

Jones told GiveMeSport about Rogers: “I don’t think we’ll see deals in many positions, but I think in terms of the Rogers deal, I am pretty expectant of it, to be honest. I think an offer bigger than £10 million pound overall is what will do it in order for Aston Villa to tie that up.

“That would represent a big profit for Middlesbrough for a player that has big potential, but at the moment, it’s not like he is the mainstay of their team. He’s not a player that they completely rely on – they could probably live without him.

“That’s a good chance for Middlesbrough to make a profit on a player and Aston Villa are looking to get a few more deals like that done. So I do think that there’s still a chance that we see Rogers join Aston Villa.”

My View: Morgan Rogers should consider Aston Villa transfer

In my opinion, Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers should seriously consider a move to Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

Villa have had two bids for the 21-year-old former Manchester City prospect already turned down. It shows just how highly the Villans rate him.

Under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, Villa are going places. They could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season. Middlesbrough may not even qualify for the Championship playoffs.

Rogers is a versatile attacking player. At Middlesbrough this season, he has played as a centre-forward, attacking midfielder and left winger.

He is rated highly in the footballing community. After a loan spell with Lincoln City in 2020-21, then Imps manager Michael Appleton described Rogers as “outstanding”.

The youngster has made 14 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Championship this season. He has scored two goals and given six assists in those games.

Rogers has also scored five goals and provided two assists in six League Cup matches for Boro this season.
