Developer held over bribe for govt project

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested the chairman of a development company for suspected bribery, says a source in the know.

According to the source, the suspect, a 67-year-old man is believed to have paid the bribe to secure a RM110 million construction project from a ministry in 2012.

“The suspect was brought to the Putrajaya magistrates’ court this morning for a remand order and will be remanded for three days.”



When contacted, MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the chairman’s arrest.

“The case will be investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.”

He did not rule out the possibility that more individuals will be arrested to assist investigations.
