KJ to address Dewan Negara on MySejahtera issue
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will explain the controversy surrounding the MySejahtera application in the Dewan Negara at 5pm today.
The Health Ministry, he said has always been concerned with the issue of personal data confidentiality and transparent procurement governance.
“As the Senate is still sitting, I will answer some issues related to @my_sejahtera this evening.
“I will also give a statement to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) later,” he tweeted.
Khairy had on Wednesday said he had requested Senate president Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim to allow a motion to be debated today, as the issue involving people’s personal data was important.
Dewan Negara Speaker Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim today said he had allowed the emergency motion to debate on the controversy surrounding the safety of people’s personal data in the MySejahtera application.
Raid said he found that the matter was of public interest since it concerns the data of millions of Malaysians stored, and that he was satisfied that the matter needed to be expedited.
Khairy had earlier said he would explain in detail the questions raised by several parties regarding the appointment of MySJ Sdn Bhd as the licensee of the MySejahtera application.
He further reiterated his statement that the appointment of KPISoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MySejahtera app developer) was implemented by the National Security Council (NSC).
He had said several companies had been invited to make their presentations and the NSC selected the company, which has been rebranded as Entomo Malaysia Sdn Bhd. Entomo, he said, then gave the licence to MySJ Sdn Bhd.
Meanwhile, the media reported that MySejahtera check-ins dropped 26 per cent by some 6.3 million on March 28 following this controversy, which led to calls to boycott the use of the application on social media under the hashtag #StopUsingMySejahtera.
