Man dies after scuffle with religious school students in Kota Baru
KOTA BARU: A man died after being involved in a scuffle with a group of religious school students in Pulau Melaka, here, today.
It was learnt that prior to the brawl, the man had assaulted a warden of the religious school before going after a female cook.
According to a witness who wanted to be known only as Tuan Hasrol, the victim came to the school after the Asar prayers and started disturbing the school staff.
“He assaulted the female worker and upon seeing this, several students tried to stop him but he became more aggressive.”
He added that several villagers who saw the commotion immediately contacted the police.
A police party arrived at the scene and sent the man’s body to the nearest hospital for post mortem.
The NST was informed that at least 15 students have been detained to facilitate the investigations.
At Press time, police have yet to issue any statement on the incident.
It is also believed that the victim, from another district, suffered from some form of mental disorder.
