SHAH ALAM – A chief executive officer (CEO) with Datuk title was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for receiving bribes of over RM250,000.

Sources stated the suspect had reportedly received a bribe worth hundreds of thousands from a food and beverage supplier company.

The source said the man in his 40s was reportedly arrested after he was called in for questioning at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office at 5pm on Wednesday.

“The suspect had asked for and received bribes by using the food and beverage supplier company owner’s automated teller machine (ATM) card.

“It was a form of repayment for obtaining supply deal for an enforcement agency during the 15th general election (GE15),” the source said.

Sources added that the ATM card was found in the possession of the accused individual, and the suspect admitted to withdrawing money using the card.

Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Fauzi Husin, when contacted, confirmed the arrest.

He said the case was investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
