1MDB: Penang Umno to lodge MACC report against 250 nominees

KUALA LUMPUR – Penang Umno will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against 250 nominees who allegedly received more than RM700 million from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

“Most of the nominees were not investigated and no action was taken even though there was a money trail and clear evidence showing that they received 1MDB funds.

“This was a one-sided and unfair action by the authorities at that time,” he claimed at a press conference at the Umno headquarters at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) today.

Shaikh Hussein also called for a thorough investigation to be carried out to identify whether there were any biased interference or instructions from certain interested leaders from previous PH-led government.

“We also want an investigation to be carried out to identify who or which department gave the order not to take any action against the nominees,” he said.

He also requested that the nominees be summoned and investigated immediately and appropriate action be taken.

“And they should be treated equally as the actions that have been taken against those who have received 1MDB funds when PH was in power,” he said.
