Not 1 sen from alleged RM1m withdrawn went into Syed Saddiq’s account, court told

Lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who represents the accused, said the prosecution had failed to prove a prima facie case against Syed Saddiq on the first criminal charge, as Rafiq Hakim Razali, the Bersatu treasurer, was named to have committed the criminal breach of trust (CBT).

He said the monies were withdrawn by Rafiq on March 6, two years ago. However, it was used and always intended to be used for Covid-19, Ramadan, Raya and welfare assistance, as stated in the organisation’s constitution.

“The evidence also clearly exonerates the accused from any wrongdoing in respect of the said funds. None of this was taken or used by the accused personally.

“This demolishes the prosecution’s contention that the accused was dishonest in transactions relating to the said RM1 million.
