SHAH ALAM: The swearing-in of the Selangor Mentri Besar will take place on Saturday morning as scheduled.

This will be followed by the swearing-in of the state executive councillors in the afternoon.

However, it is understood that the palace may reschedule it for Monday at the latest.

Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah returned yesterday morning following a surgery in London.

Palace sources said His Royal Highness would need to rest following the medical procedure.

The palace is also awaiting three names from Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be submitted to the Sultan to decide who should be the mentri besar.

Caretaker mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is most likely to keep his position.

Despite the bruising battle in the just concluded state election, he has managed to keep Selangor under Pakatan rule.

Amirudin also managed to defeat Bersatu leader Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in the fight for the Gombak parliamentary seat in last year’s general election.

“He has earned his stripes and surveys also show that he is the preferred choice of the people of Selangor,” a source added.

The sources said news reports of Amirudin being dropped “is probably inaccurate.”

Dr Fahmi Ngah, who won the Seri Setia state seat, is being speculated to be among three names on the list for the Selangor mentri besar post.
