KANGAR: The father of a housewife who was shot dead by her policeman husband in Simpang Empat here yesterday, has forgiven his son-in-law.

Salleh Eizan, 63, said he accepted the tragedy as fate.

“Honestly, I have forgiven him and accepted what happened as a test from God… (and also) because I have considered him as my own son,”



“At first, it was difficult for me to come to terms with the sudden loss but I am learning to accept it and telling myself to make peace with the Allah’s will,” he said.

Safsufarnisya Sallehshot dead by her lance corporal husband using his service firearm.

The 27-year-old suspect, who is attached to the state police contingent, has been remanded for a week to facilitate investigation.

He is also expected to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother Che Mas Taha, 63, said the family was sad to discover some baby clothes in Safsufarnisya’s wardrobe.

“Apparently, Safsufarnisya and her husband had made some preparations for their first child after tying the knot last year.

“Our hearts were shattered upon seeing the baby’s clothes still wrapped up,” she said, adding that her daughter even wrote “Welcome Junior Ijat” on the dressing table with her lipstick.

It was reported that the 6am shooting took place at the couple’s home in Kampung Bendang Baru, Simpang Empat, Jalan Kangar-Alor Star.

The incident happened after the suspect had just finished his shift.

The suspect had fired at least five shots at close range.

The victim’s parents and a nephew who were at the couple’s home at the time, fled the scene and contacted the police.

The family was met after a visit by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Datuk Razarudin Husain.

He was accompanied by Perlis police chief Datuk Surina Saad and Kangar police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop.

Also present was the Perlis State Legislative Assembly speaker, Ru’sele Eizan who is also the victim’s uncle.

Safsufarnisya’s body was laid to rest at Masjid Putra Muslim Cemetery after the Isya’ prayers last night.
