Manchester United are becoming more and more keen to hire a manager who is also on the shortlist of Liverpool.

Europe’s managerial market is set for an unprecedented summer of upheaval when the 2023/24 campaign ends, as Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona wave goodbye to Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Xavi respectively.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United could also make a change – with the latter becoming increasingly interested by one name who is set to be out of contract this summer…

Manchester United focusing on Liverpool manager target

Well – according to the Independent – Manchester United are becoming more and more keen to hire Julian Nagelsmann as a replacement for Erik ten Hag.

The 36-year-old is currently in charge of the German National Team.

However, Nagelsmann’s contract expires after UEFA EURO 2024 this summer, and while the German has already said he would be willing to stay on, his bosses are yet to put a new deal on the table.

Now, the Independent believe the man from Landsberg am Lech is willing to make a return to club football after UEFA EURO 2024 ends this summer, with Bayern Munich also showing interest.

However, the Bundesliga giants harshly sacked Nagelsmann in favour of hiring Tuchel back in March 2023 – therefore, in our view at least, the chances of him returning to the Allianz Arena are slim.

Julian Nagelsmann has backing of Jurgen Klopp

It will be fascinating to see where Nagelsmann ends up this summer.

Before Bayern Munich printed out his P45, the German was one of Europe’s hottest managerial properties.

Klopp himself has even called Nagelsmann a “fantastic” tactician – while those in the world of football journalism see the Manchester United and Liverpool target as a “top” coach.

It was the Telegraph who claimed that Germany’s boss is on Fenway Sports Group’s (FSG) radar.

By the sounds of it, Nagelsmann could choose from some of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on this situation.
