SHAH ALAM: The body of a man who is believed to have drowned was found floating 500m from the Bagan Muara Esbee Jetty, near the Sungai Buloh Sasaran Bridge, in Jeram, Kuala Selangor, this morning.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ramli Kasa said a member of the public made a call about the discovery of the body at 8.05am.

The body was taken to Tanjung Karang Hospital for a post-mortem.

“Investigations are ongoing and the case has been classified as sudden death,” Ramli said.

He said the case is believed to be related to the Op Tapis operation that was conducted at 6.30pm last Friday at a jetty near the area.

He said when police approached the jetty, a group of men had jumped into the river and swam away.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the department received a call about a group of men who jumped into the river on Friday.

He said 15 personnel from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station and Selangor Water Rescue Team were deployed to search for the men.
