KOTA BARU: One of the victims involved in a fatal brawl at Masjid Tok Guru, Pulau Melaka here, last night, said he survived because people came to his aid.

Wan Fadhilah Wan Abdullah, 57, said he could have died from being repeatedly kicked and punched by a man.

“Luckily for me there were those who were brave enough to help me, or I would have died from the assault.”

He said he was riding his motorcycle home after work when the man suddenly kicked him off his motorcycle.

“The next thing I knew I was being kicked in my head and all over my body. It happened over and over again before I was rescued by tahfiz students who were nearby.

“Initially I thought the attacker was a tahfiz student undergoing some silat training because some of his moves looked that way.”

Wan Fadhilah said that as he passed the area on his motorcycle, the tahfiz students had shouted at him to move away.

“When I was on my motorcycle, one of them screamed out at me to move because there was a mentally unstable man around. But before I could could do so, I was attacked.”
