Riot in Kanowit not related to race, says National Unity Minister
KANOWIT: The recent riot that happened here has nothing to do with racial issues, says National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
“The riot is a criminal case and does not concern racial issues,” he said after closing the Kanowit Festival on Sunday (Sept24)
“Kanowit is still safe. If it is not safe nobody will come (to the festival). Today, everywhere is crowded,” said the Kanowit MP.
On Sept 12, a group caused a ruckus at the Kanowit district office with a few individuals charged over the incident.
Some broke into the district office and attacked others inside.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azam Ahmad Sapri said two were injured and their vehicles damaged in the incident.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code.
