Cop in viral video suspended, case referred to AGC, says minister

PETALING JAYA: The police officer who was filmed berating her colleagues and members of the public in two separate viral videos has been suspended from duty.

In one video, the woman was seen arguing and belittling rank-and-file policemen.

In another, she was allegedly seen arguing with a person at a car park in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the two investigation papers on the policewoman have been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.

He added that the police integrity and standards compliance department had also opened six separate probes into the matter.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin also told reporters that over 40,000 police officers would be mobilised in preparation for the upcoming elections in six states.

“Whether they will come from the states themselves or from other states not involved in the elections, we will determine at a later date,” he said.

Saifuddin was speaking to reporters after the handover ceremony for the posts of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and deputy IGP held at the police training centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur today.

The ceremony saw outgoing IGP Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani hand the reins over to his deputy Razarudin Husain, who in turn, handed over his post to Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department (CID) chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
