SHAH ALAM – Incumbent Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei has dismissed claims that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has the votes of the Chinese and Indian community for the state polls.
“Everything (manifesto) is still up for grabs; it’s more of a tactic of trying to gain full confidence from other Chinese and Indians who are hesitant to vote.
“This is their way of trying to convince people otherwise. I think it’s just an election tactic,” Lim told Sinar Daily.
Lim also spoke about her plans for Kampung Tunku if she is given the chance for a second term.
She said that she would focus more on upscaling, education, and providing job opportunities.
“Kampung Tunku is not an affluent area due to Petaling Jaya being a town of a lot of economic migrants, hence there is a rise in urban poverty which is something that we are still trying to tackle as part of upscaling efforts,” Lim said.
She added that the last database revealed that over 1,000 families have become vulnerable due to Covid-19, which will be something that she will pay heed to in scheming welfare for the area as a form of economic recovery.
Lim also said that she is working on improving infrastructure in Kampung Tunku, which is an old area.
“Ideally, beating urban poverty is the way to go to see progress,” Lim said when asked about her views towards voters’ current demands and ongoing struggles.
