Cops probing Bersatu man for sedition after MACC files report
PETALING JAYA: Police are probing Bersatu information chief Razali Idris under the Sedition Act after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) accused him of defaming the graft-busters.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the Bersatu leader is also being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities or network service.
“The (police) report (by MACC) was filed at 9.27am today. Updates on the case will be given from time to time. Investigations are under way,” Kosmo reported him as saying.
Razali, a Terengganu executive council member, had last month claimed that MACC and the judges were controlled by the government during the launch of Perikatan Nasional’s election machinery for the Dec 2 Kemaman by-election.
He was also heard questioning the High Court’s verdict regarding the case of Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
An excerpt of the speech given by Razali, was shared on TikTok by @wancin11.
In a statement earlier today, MACC said Razali’s claims were both slanderous and defamatory, and could erode public confidence in the commission.
It went on to express hope that immediate action would be taken against those who slandered it.
