Takiyuddin hits out at Kit Siang’s ‘shallow, skewed’ response
PETALING JAYA: PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has slammed DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang for not reading his previous statements on the idea of a non-Malay prime minister thoroughly.
Saying the DAP leader should not base his understanding on media interpretations, Takiyuddin said Lim should read his statements in the Malay language in full.
“He should reread my two previous statements in Malay in full and not rely on media reports.
“Clearly, his understanding of them is quite poor and off the mark, thus his shallow and skewed response,” Takiyuddin told FMT.

He said such misinterpretations and distortions from Lim diminished the latter’s reputation.
“It is sad to say that he is only belittling himself and his long career in politics if he continues with such misses and distortions,” Takiyuddin said.
Earlier today, Lim demanded Takiyuddin apologise for implying the constitutional provision that any Malaysian could be prime minister was “poisonous propaganda”.
He also asked Takiyuddin if he was suggesting that the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara were divisive and inflammatory documents.
Lim said the Kota Bharu MP should be referred to the parliamentary privileges committee to determine whether he violated his oath as an MP to “preserve, protect and defend” the Federal Constitution.
On Tuesday, Takiyuddin urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to intervene and put a stop to what PAS described as “toxic narratives” surrounding recent calls made by DAP.
He said the narrative had brought DAP’s true intentions into question, which included recent statements by Lim and Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai, who had urged the government to reinstate local elections starting with Kuala Lumpur.
Takiyuddin was referring to a speech made by Lim to Malaysian students in the UK last month where the latter had said he hoped Malaysia would not have to wait as long as the US to have a leader from an ethnic minority.
