Israel must stop ongoing actions in Gaza, abide by ICJ ruling, says Wisma Putra

The Israeli regime must immediately stop the killing and displacement of Palestinians and abide by its obligations under international law, says Wisma Putra.
The Foreign Ministry said the international community must not let the belligerent act of one of its members continue with impunity, adding that they must suspend support to Israel.
“This dastardly military operation clearly indicates the key goal of the Zionist regime to annihilate the Palestinians from their own land.
“It again demonstrates their blatant disregard of fundamental principles of international law and a clear contempt of the ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Jan 26 on the six provisional measures.
“In this regard, Malaysia echoes the calls by the United Nations Secretary-General for an immediate halt to the vile plan and urges the UN Security Council to take swift and decisive action to stop the massacre being perpetrated by the Zionist regime.
“This includes compelling responsible members of the international community to suspend support to the regime,” it said in a statement on Monday (Feb 12).
It also expressed Malaysia’s support for and solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemned Israel’s recent large-scale offensive in Rafah “in the strongest terms”, which affected millions of civilians seeking refuge.
“This irresponsible, illegal and inhumane assault will worsen the current humanitarian catastrophe, exacerbate tensions in the region, and derail efforts towards immediate cessation of hostilities and permanent ceasefire,” it said.
Israel’s military said early on Monday that it had conducted a wave of attacks on the Gazan city of Rafah, the New York Times reported.
The latest strike in Rafah had fuelled fear and panic among over a million Palestinians who had crowded into Gaza’s southernmost city, seeking refuge from Israeli military actions farther north.
