PETALING JAYA: A Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leader sees ill intentions in Sarawak PKR’s insistence on fielding a candidate at the next state assembly elections.

However, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, a PBB vice-president said he believes that PKR president Anwar Ibrahim does not share the same sentiment as the Sarawak PKR leadership.

Sarawak PKR strategic director Iswardy Morni recently said the state chapter was ready to challenge the ruling coalition, Gabungan Parti Sarawak, at the polls should it be given the green light. He also said GPS was not part of Pakatan Harapan.

Karim said GPS was prepared to take on PKR, The Borneo Post reported.

Karim said Iswardy’s remarks reflected Sarawak PKR’s “feelings” towards GPS.

“Well, (based on the remarks) we can see, it (intention to field candidates) is not from central PKR but Sarawak PKR. Their ill intentions are evident, it still persists,” Karim was quoted as saying.

If Iswardy wants to contest or bring in others to contest, “then by all means, contest”, said Karim. “We are always ready.”

Karim, who is the assemblyman for Asajaya, said he had waited for Iswardy to challenge him at the previous state elections, but Iswardy never contested.
