Don’t fall for opposition views, PKR’s Adam tells Akmal
PETALING JAYA: PKR Youth chief Adam Adli has asked his Umno counterpart Dr Akmal Saleh to check his views and facts against the unity government’s before taking aim at Putrajaya.
Adam said Akmal seemed to have a shallow understanding of the Dewan Rakyat speaker’s decision not to vacate the six seats held by former Bersatu MPs.
“Before slamming the government or the speaker with such condescension, it would be appropriate for Akmal to first refer to the views, information, facts and stand of the unity government.
“This common practice is really necessary and should be prioritised in critical situations,” he said in a statement.
Adam, who is also deputy youth and sports minister, said Akmal should not be swayed by the opposition, which was aimed at bringing down the government.

He added that those within the unity alliance should be able to reject the opposition’s arguments instead of “adding to the confusion” among Malaysians.
“This government is imperfect, should always be corrected where needed, and needs plenty of reforms. This has been our resolve from the start, but it shouldn’t be an excuse to attack (the government) without more constructive actions.”
Yesterday, Akmal said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul’s decision on the six “rogue” Bersatu MPs meant that the anti-hopping law which was much-awaited by Malaysians was all for nothing.
Pakatan Harapan Youth deputy chief Hasbie Muda rebuked the Merlimau assemblyman, telling him to respect Johari’s ruling as he had the authority to decide on the matter.
Akmal remained defiant, saying it was more important to respect the people’s right to reject “political frogs” whom he said would “ruin the country”.
