SHAH ALAM – Datuk Seri Najib Razak is widely regarded as one of Malaysia’s best Prime Ministers for his dedication to the welfare of the people while advancing the country’s development during his administration.
Political analyst Dr Hussain Yusri Zawawi highlighted that the public felt their welfare was safeguarded through various initiatives introduced by Najib under the 1Malaysia slogan, including the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) cash aid.
“Besides BR1M, there were numerous initiatives implemented during Najib’s administration, such as Klinik 1Malaysia and Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M), which were established in rural areas, villages, and cities.
“Najib also introduced Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) to help people own homes and the 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) to alleviate the financial burden on higher education students.
“These welfare-focused initiatives enabled low-income earners to benefit from various facilities.

“Najib spearheaded development projects like the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the Pan Borneo Highway (LPB),” Hussain told Sinar recently.
Hussain’s comments came in response to a statement by Umno Johor Chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, who described Najib as one of Malaysia’s best Prime Ministers and expressed sadness over Najib’s current situation.
During the Umno Pekan meeting on Saturday, Onn Hafiz urged the Umno leadership to continue advocating for what he termed “justice for Najib.”
Hussain further noted that Najib significantly boosted the national economy by establishing strong relationships with foreign countries, especially China.
“The former Pekan MP brought numerous investments from China to Malaysia,” he added.

On the issue of justice and pardon for Najib, Hussain stressed that it should be left to the country’s legal system and the powers of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“Malaysia operates with legislative, executive, and judicial bodies. In the judiciary context, we must respect the court’s jurisdiction.
“As for a pardon, it is best left to the wisdom of His Majesty,” he said.
Hussain urged Umno leaders to emulate Najib’s successful administrative strategies, highlighting that the Unity Government and state-level governments could continue implementing policies to alleviate the people’s burden, particularly amid the current high cost of living.
“For instance, the Unity Government has announced the reintroduction of book vouchers this year, following Najib’s precedent,” he added.
