JOHOR BARU: Representatives from opposition parties had requested to meet him and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over potential alliances for the next general election, says Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, however said he remains reluctant on accepting any requests from the opposition, reported a Malay daily.
“There were ‘delegates’ eager for a meeting with myself and Anwar. However, I am not inclined to entertain such meetings at this time.
“I don’t wish to be bitten by the same snake twice at the same place,” he said when officiating the Tebrau Umno Division representative meeting at Dewan Muafakat Johor in Taman Adda here on Friday (July 26) night.
Previously, Ahmad Zahid said that it will not cooperate with PAS as long as Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is president of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) component party.
