TEMERLOH: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has cautioned party members against behaving like opposition figures in states where the party leads.
In his closing speech at PAS’s 70th muktamar here today, Hadi said such behaviour could undermine and destabilise their own administrations.
“No one in PAS should act like the opposition within their own government, as if unaware that they are now part of it.
“They should not oppose their administration, elected representatives, or even their own menteri besar,” he said, without naming anyone in particular.
PAS currently leads in four states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis.

Separately, Hadi said PAS had rejected the draft memorandum of understanding on constituency allocations for opposition MPs, as it did not align with democratic practices rooted in Islamic teachings.
In Islam, he said, it is compulsory to be fair to all and “not tell lies” when striking a deal.
Earlier today, opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin said Perikatan Nasional MPs had unanimously rejected the draft MoU on constituency allocations for opposition MPs.
Hamzah gave four fundamental reasons for rejecting the MoU, claiming it went against the Federal Constitution with conditions that touched on the special position of the Malays and Bumiputeras.
He also said the MoU conflicted with cultural and religious values, lacked clear mechanisms and included elements perceived as restricting MPs’ freedom of speech.
