Embattled Nenggiri rep postpones filing legal challenge against Kelantan Speaker
PETALING JAYA: Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim has postponed his intention to file an affidavit application to challenge the decision of the Kelantan assembly Speaker who declared the Nenggiri state seat vacant.
According to Azizi’s lawyer, R. Aswath, the affidavit, which was initially scheduled to be filed on Sunday (June 23), was delayed due to certain documentation issues.
“We were supposed to file today, but we couldn’t do so because several documents were incomplete. Maybe, we will file it tomorrow or the day after, it can be done online,” he said when contacted on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Azizi said he would leave the process to his lawyer to file the injunction in the Kota Baru High Court.
“In this case, we are filing to request a court injunction to temporarily suspend the decision to hold a by-election in the near future,” Aswath was reported saying.

On June 20, the embattled Nenggiri state assemblyman, Azizi, said that he would be taking the Kelantan Speaker to court for declaring his seat vacant.
The Bersatu member, who won the seat under a PAS ticket, questioned how state Speaker Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah had arrived at the decision based on a notice from Bersatu.
“I was dropped as a member of Bersatu, but I am technically a state assemblyman representing PAS, as my watikah (letter of endorsement) when I was elected came from PAS,” added Azizi.
Amar had declared the Nenggiri seat vacant after the Kelantan assembly received a notice under Clause (3) of Article 31(A) of the state constitution from Azizi on June 13 and a notice from Bersatu that he had ceased to be a member.
Nenggiri is one of the three state constituencies under the Gua Musang parliamentary constituency.
Azizi said despite being declared vacant by the state Speaker, he would still continue all of his duties as the Nenggiri state assemblyman.
