PBS vice-president Arthur Sen said Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin should not make an issue over his party’s ‘in and out’ relationship with Umno.

PETALING JAYA: A Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leader has hit back at Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin for accusing PBS of treacherous politics.

PBS vice-president Arthur Sen said shifting alliances among parties is common in politics and he saw no issue with PBS’s “in and out” relationship with Umno over the years.

Sen reminded Bung that the latter had previously collaborated with Warisan president Shafie Apdal in an attempt to topple the state government, even though Shafie had formerly been a Sabah Umno member.

“Being in and out of Barisan Nasional, or working with or against Umno has never been an issue.

“Umno had in the past pledged a ‘No Anwar, No DAP’ policy. Why are you a friend of theirs in the government now?

“PBS was betrayed by two state legislative assembly members who jumped to Umno but we accepted it and moved on,” Sen said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Sinar Harian reported Bung as urging his party to reject working with PBS in the next state election due to their past relationship.

“Previously, PBS stabbed us in the back two to three times. In the 1990 elections they left us after the candidates were nominated. They won 14 parliamentary seats because they cheated us,” the Kinabatangan MP reportedly said.
