We’re only voicing out public’s concerns, Hamzah tells Anwar
PETALING JAYA: Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin has criticised Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for claiming that the opposition is pushing “hate politics”, saying it is only voicing out the public’s concerns about various issues.
Anwar yesterday accused the opposition of ignoring facts and unfairly portraying him in a negative light, both of which he said would not affect his focus in managing the country.
In a statement today, Hamzah questioned whether Anwar considered issues such as the public’s disappointment with the targeted diesel subsidies and privatisation of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to be “hate politics”.
The Perikatan Nasional secretary-general also claimed the public was disillusioned with the government’s efforts to eradicate corruption, which he alleged were not being carried out in a transparent and fair manner.
“In reality, there are many more issues that could be listed,” said Hamzah.

“Don’t lose sight of yourself just because you hold power.”
Anwar had said he was aware of numerous labels directed at him, such as “Jewish agent”, and accusations of “selling the country to China”.
“I respond (to these claims) occasionally, but often I don’t bother because I’m thinking about our duties, which are far more significant and challenging,” he said in a speech at the finance ministry’s monthly assembly.
“Facts are completely disregarded (by the opposition). Only hatred is being spread. Should this affect us? No, it will not.”
