PETALING JAYA: Opposition criticisms of Parti Bersatu Sabah only prove that the party is still a force to be reckoned with, the party’s information chief said today.

However, Joniston Bangkuai advised members and leaders not to fall into the trap laid by Warisan via such attacks, The Borneo Post reported.

“PBS being a target for criticism can be a good thing as our ‘stock’ will rise, but we still have to be careful of these provocations,” he said at a divisional annual meeting in Putatan, Sabah.

Joniston questioned the performance of its rival Warisan when in government from 2018-2022. He also took a swipe at its leaders who spoke “as if they were the best”.

He said the Warisan government provided only RM1 million in allocations for assemblymen while the current ruling coalition, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, provided RM3 million.
“During Warisan’s era, the state’s revenue collection was only over RM4 billion, while the present government has achieved more than RM7 billion. Who is better?” Joniston said.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal held power as chief minister from 2018 until the party lost in the state assembly elections of 2022.
