PETALING JAYA: Umno vice-president Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has called on the authorities to take action against Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly making “disrespectful” remarks about former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah during the Nenggiri state by-election campaign.
Wan Rosdy, who is also the Pahang menteri besar, said Muhyiddin’s speech during the campaign period had touched on 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues.
“As a former prime minister, Muhyiddin should not have dragged the royal institution into his political campaign merely to garner votes and obscure issues in the previous general election,” he said in a statement today.
“The public is well aware and agrees that the king’s intervention successfully resolved the political crisis and facilitated the formation of the unity government.
“It is troubling to see the former prime minister use the royal institution as a political tool.”

Wan Rosdy also called on the public to continue respecting the royal institution, which represents national sovereignty and serves as a protector of the people.
It is believed that Wan Rosdy was referring to Muhyiddin’s recent campaign speech, in which he claimed that he had the support of 115 MPs after the previous general election.
Muhyiddin claimed the king at the time should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.
