PETALING JAYA: Melaka Perikatan Nasional has no problem accepting former Pengkalan Batu assemblyman Norhizam Hassan Baktee despite his history of jumping parties, said state coalition chairman Dr Yadzil Yaakub.
Yadzil said it was normal for politicians to do so in exercising their freedom to be in any party they wished and PN itself had seen many members come and go.
“There is nothing to stop anybody from joining us and following our policies. Our partner parties have seen people come and go. Umno itself has seen people do this.
“They say that we are taking in ‘frogs’, but Umno has also taken in ‘frogs’ of its own,” the Bemban assemblyman told FMT, commenting on the former DAP man’s expressed desire to contest in the next state polls under the PN banner.
Earlier, Norhizam told FMT that he planned on making a political comeback in the next state election after a three-year hiatus, having failed to defend Pengkalan Batu in the state election three years ago as an independent.

Popularly known as “YB Hulk”, he was with Umno before switching to DAP in 2006. He was among the assemblymen who withdrew support for former Melaka chief minister Sulaiman Ali in 2021.
He recently shared a stage at a ceramah with former Barisan Nasional leaders who have since aligned themselves with PN, including former Melaka Umno deputy chief Ali Mohamad.
