Sivaraj returns to MIC as an ordinary member
PETALING JAYA: Former MIC vice-president C Sivaraj has been accepted into the party after leaving last year.
The former Cameron Highlands MP told FMT he was informed earlier today that his application to rejoin the party as an ordinary member was successful.
“I want to express my gratitude to party president SA Vigneswaran, deputy president M Saravanan and the other central working committee members for supporting me to rejoin the party and for providing me with the chance to serve MIC again.”
He said it was now “business as usual” and that he would work with the party’s leadership to strengthen MIC.
When contacted, MIC information chief TR Thinalan confirmed that Sivaraj’s application to rejoin the party had been accepted.
DISYORKAN UNTUK ANDA :
Sivaraj resigned from the Barisan Nasional component party in June last year, stating he wanted to carry out his responsibilities as a senator and leader of the Indian community without any hindrance, “especially from the MIC leadership”.
He also said several “incidents” had occurred under Vigneswaran’s leadership that forced him to relinquish his membership.
The following month, The Malaysian Insight, quoting sources, reported that Sivaraj was considering joining a multi-ethnic party, amid speculation he might sign up with Perikatan Nasional.
Earlier this month, however, Vigneswaran was reported as saying that the independent senator wanted to rejoin MIC.
Vigneswaran was quoted as saying it “should not be a problem” and that former members only had to hand in a written request to express their intent to rejoin the party.
