Police to probe political party’s parade in Setiu
KUALA TERENGGANU: Police will investigate a parade by a political party in Setiu, on Friday, where its members were spotted carrying replica weapons.
Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa said a video of the parade which had gone viral on social media showed a group of youths carrying replica weapons and had caused uneasiness among the people.
“Police will conduct an investigation to identify violations in the procession and to take the appropriate actions.
“Initial investigation found it occurred on Feb 17 at a resort in Setiu. The parade was one of the events under a programme which include designing Islamic-themed attire, weapon and heritage,” he said in a statement.
He said from all of the contesting districts, only one group was spotted marching while carrying the replica weapons.
According to Rohaimi, police were informed of the programme but were not told about the parade carrying replica weapons. — Bernama
