In a chilling address Thursday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) spoke on increased need for security for members of Congress because “the enemy is within the House of Representatives.”
“It shouldn’t be that not only is the president of the United States inciting an insurrection, but keeps fanning the flame endangering the security of members of Congress, to the point that they’re even concerned about members in the House of Representatives being a danger to them,” she said.
Reporters specifically asked what Pelosi meant when said the enemy was “within.” “It means that we have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress,” the speaker said.
Pelosi is referencing the multiple House members who have set off metal detectors for trying to bring concealed firearms onto the House floor.
In was recently revealed that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) wrote at length about executing Democrats on her Facebook page in 2018 and 2019.
Earlier in the conference, Pelosi was questioned directly about Greene and a video of her harassing Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg. Greene was recently appointed to the House Education and Labor Committee despite her belief that the Parkland shooting and several other shootings were staged by the government.
“What could they be thinking — or is thinking too generous a word about what they might be doing? It’s absolutely appalling,” Pelosi said.
