Vape liquid seized at Kelantan-Thai border

The General Operations Force (GOF) seized 593 bottles of vape liquid worth RM50,405 in an operation here early today.

However, no one was arrested in the 4.30am operation as several men suspected to be smugglers, managed to escape on foot.

GOF Seventh Battalion commanding officer Superintendent Azhari Nusi said on duty GOF members spotted suspected smugglers hauling boxes from the Golok riverbank to a waiting boat at the Lubok Gong illegal jetty.

“However upon seeing the officers, the suspects fled into a nearby bush, leaving the goods behind.

“Upon checking, the officers discovered 593 bottles containing various flavour of vape liquid,” he said in a statement.

Azhari said initial investigation showed that the vape liquid was to be smuggled to Thailand.

“We believe there is high demand for the vape liquid from suppliers there of late,” he added.

He said the seized items would be handed over to the state health department for further action.
