Azmin denies 5 more Bersatu reps to back Selangor MB

PETALING JAYA: Selangor opposition leader Azmin Ali has denied a report claiming that five more Bersatu assemblymen are set to declare support for menteri besar Amirudin Shari.

“The report is false, the five assemblymen are not involved,” he said at a press conference, where he was joined by the five assemblymen named in the report by Harapan Daily.

Quoting sources, the portal claimed that Muhaimin Harith Abdullah Sani (Batang Kali), Wan Dzanahurin Ahmad (Sungai Kandis), Jamil Salleh (Dengkil), Harrison Hassan (Jeram) and Rosnizan Ahmad (Morib) would be pledging their support for Amirudin soon.

Earlier today, Selat Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari had declared his support for Amirudin.

Rashid, who was succeeded by Azmin as Selangor Bersatu chief, said his decision was voluntary and partly the result of Selangor Perikatan Nasional’s silence on accusations levelled against the Rulers.

Azmin slammed Rashid’s decision, saying he had betrayed the mandate of the people of Selat Klang.

He added that action would be taken against Rashid according to Bersatu’s party constitution “to ensure justice for all parties”.
