Malaysian duo strike silat gold
Malaysia bagged their seventh gold medal at the Hanoi Sea Games today through pencak silat pair Taqiyuddin Hamid and Sazzlan Yuga.
The duo’s well-executed performance in the men’s doubles (seni) final saw them scoring 9.950 points from the judges at the Bac Tu Liem Sports Centre for first place.
Their opponents in the final were Singaporean brothers Hazim and Haziq Mohammad Zaque who recorded 9.905 points.
Pairs from Thailand and Singapore, who lost in the semi-finals yesterday, became the joint bronze medallists in the men’s doubles.
Malaysian women’s doubles Nor Hamizah Abu Hassan-Nur Syazreen A Malik, who lost to Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Thu Ha-Nguyen Thi Huyen in the semi-finals yesterday, settled for bronze.
