PERMATANG PAUH – There is no state in Malaysia that is poor or backward.
In an exclusive interview with Sinar Daily, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the Permatang Pasir state seat, Amir Hamzah Abdul Hashim explained Penang was already developed during the British era, compared to Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

“In Malaysia, there is not a single state that is poor and backward. Each state has its own ‘richness’ in its own way.

“Kedah is rich in agriculture. So it’s true that we don’t see development; we only see a lot of rice fields.

“While Terengganu is a rich state, there is petroleum. Not poor at all,” he elaborated.

Amir was responding to Penang Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Air Putih candidate Lim Guan Eng, who criticised the Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah governments for their poor water management and economic performance.

Amir went on to explain that Kelantan has been a stepchild in the past because it was under opposition rule

In a ceramah at Jelajah Madani Kebun Bunga on Aug 6, Lim said that the Kelantan government has been unable to provide clean water to its citizens and that the Terengganu and Kedah governments have also not been able to boost their economies
