HULU SELANGOR, May 11 — Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) candidate Pang Sock Tao said tonight that she would immediately relocate to the constituency after the pact declared her victory.

She indicated her commitment to voters here after previously making the same vow during campaigning.

“I stayed here during the whole by-election and I’m currently looking for a house to live here,” she told the press here.

Pang said that she would listen and find what is the most pressing problem among her constituents.

“The first thing I would do is to listen and find the most pressing problem you the residents and I will be cooperating to solve the issue to ensure the well-being of the people,” she said.

The former press secretary for the Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming had previously said she would love to reside in KKB to be closer to the residents and more accessible.

The decision came after some in the opposition disputed PH’s decision of not fielding someone local, unlike Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut.

The Election Commission (EC) has since confirmed that Pang won the seat with a 3,869-vote majority.

The voter turnout stood at 61.51 per cent, ranking among the lowest for by-elections following the 15th general election.

A total of 39,269 voters were eligible to cast their ballots today after early voting on Tuesday which saw 97 per cent or 769 police and military personnel and their spouses casting their ballots.

The Kuala Kubu Baru seat fell vacant following the death of its three-term assemblyman, Lee Kee Hiong, on March 21 from cancer.

In the state election in August last year, Lee beat candidates from Perikatan Nasional, Parti Rakyat Malaysia and the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) by a majority of 4,119 votes.
