Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang will have his statement recorded by police on Tuesday (March 5), says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector General of Police said investigators will be sent to the PAS headquarters at Jalan Raja Laut at 2.30pm to question the party president.

“We have been informed of his health by his special officer and have scheduled to have the statement taken tomorrow.

“The case is being investigated for sedition and misuse of network facilities,” he said following the handing over of duties ceremony for the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director.

It was reported that Abdul Hadi received a royal rebuke for being disrespectful and insolent towards the Malay Rulers.

The admonishment from Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was relayed to Abdul Hadi through a letter to Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri.

In the letter dated Feb 27, Mohamad Munir said Sultan Sharafuddin was saddened by the Marang MP’s statement titled “Ketinggian Islam wajib dipertahankan” (Islam’s supremacy must be defended), which appeared to target religious scholars, lawyers, judges, MPs, assemblymen and the Malay Rulers.

Abdul Hadi’s social media outburst came after the Federal Court had struck out 16 criminal provisions in the Kelantan Syariah Criminal Code Enactment (1) 2019 on Feb 9.
