‘I will never betray constituents in Jeram,’ Harrison declares loyalty to Perikatan

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu’s Jeram assemblyman, Datuk Harrison Hassan, declares that he remains loyal to Perikatan Nasional amidst speculations of backing Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Harrison said he would never betray his electorates in Jeram as they had elected him into the state assembly in the last state polls.

“I have only been the Jeram assemblyman for six months and I will focus on various people’s issues in Jeram.

“I carry the mandate of the people, and I remain steadfast with Perikatan,” Harrison was quoted as saying by Malay portal Sinar Harian on Sunday (March 10).

Harrison was speaking to reporters during an event in Jeram. He was responding to a news report claiming that he was among several Opposition state assemblymen who wanted to stray from party lines and back Amirudin.

According to Harrison, he has no plans to sue the news portal as such claims are normal in local politics.

“To me, denials made previously are adequate to state my stance towards the party,” said Harrison.

The news report had claimed that five Bersatu state assemblymen were planning to back Amirudin’s leadership.

On March 6, Sinar Harian quoted Harrison as denying backing Amiruddin’s leadership.
