Cops nab 10 to assist probe into JB brawl
JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested 10 men to help with investigation into a brawl that occurred on May 16 at a shop lot in the city centre.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the individuals, aged between 15 and 37, were arrested between 2.50am and 4.20am on May 17.
“All of them tested negative for drugs, and the background checks revealed that only one suspect has 12 priors.
“Five of them suffered minor injuries to the head. The cause of the fight is still being investigated,” he said, adding that all of the suspects are currently on remand until May 20.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a woman in her 60s was killed after she was run over by her own vehicle when she forgot to pull the car’s handbrake.
ACP Raub said the incident occurred at the victim’s house in Majidee, here at 10.40am on May 16.
“The vehicle is believed to have ‘reversed’ into the victim, dragging her for about 10 metres on the road. She suffered serious injury to her head and body.
“She was later pronounced dead at the location by the medical team,” he said in a statement here today.
ACP Raub added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
