Man killed after car plunges into 10m deep ravine in Tawau
KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after his vehicle plunged into a 10m deep ravine along Jalan Luasong in Tawau on Tuesday (May 28).
The 58-year-old, identified as Yong Kon Siong, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre assistant chief Riki Mohan Singh Ramday said a team of eight firemen, led by Tawau Fire and Rescue Station senior fire officer II Mohd Yahya And Fayyah, was dispatched to the location after receiving a distress call at 7.08pm.
It took the fire engine about an hour to reach the location, about 120km from the station.
“The victim was found trapped in the car. Firemen had to extricate his body from the wreckage,” said Riki Mohan.
The operation ended at 9.58pm.
“The case has been handed over to the police for investigation,” he added.
