PETALING JAYA: A political secretary to Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari has acknowledged that there have been pressures and requests for a shuffle of the state executive council from both branch and state PKR leaderships.

In a Facebook post, Saifuddin Shafi confirmed these requests but clarified that they are not currently influencing any decisions.

He said Amirudin, as Selangor menteri besar and PKR vice-president, “is always open to meeting with leaders to hear directly what party members want to convey”.

“However, I believe that whatever decision (is taken) will be made in the best interest of Selangor, considering Amirudin’s dedication to steering the state and party, including dealing with the Sheraton Move and the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Saifuddin said it is best to not get caught up in rumours. “We should look at the root cause of why this issue has arisen, but I would like to suggest that we all focus on serving the people.”

Earlier reports today suggested a reshuffle of the Selangor executive council might take place at the end of this month or next month, with potential replacements of two exco members from PKR and DAP.

FMT later reported two Selangor executive councillors dismissing a possible reshuffle of the state government leadership.

They were Najwan Halimi (youth, sports and entrepreneurship) and Jamaliah Jamaluddin (public health and environment).
