PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari alleged that the activities of GISBH were ‘more extreme’ than past movements.

PETALING JAYA: A PAS leader has questioned the role of government officials in allowing management members of Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) to meet top government officials.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari posted a photograph of GISBH chief executive officer Nasiruddin Ali purportedly at a meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in April last year.

Fadhli said: “This raises serious questions about the role of religious authorities in monitoring such movements. Why were they able to have meetings with important government leaders, including the prime minister?

“Logically, the prime minister cannot possibly be aware of every detail regarding the guests who meet him; this responsibility lies with the officials surrounding him, including religious agencies, who should have had this information much earlier.”

FMT is seeking a response from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Previously, social media users had posted photographs of other leaders such as former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin, former foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah and several others attending events with GISBH leaders.

Fadhli also expressed concern over the group’s activities, which he described as more extreme than past movements such as Darul Arqam and Rufaqa’.

“GISBH poses a more serious threat,” he said, alleging that the group exploited children on a large scale.

“This kind of exploitation, especially when carried out in the name of religion, is unacceptable and must be stopped,” he said.

He warned against allowing history to repeat itself, pointing to how Darul Arqam, which was banned in the 1990s, re-emerged under different names and operations.

GISBH is currently the focus of a police investigation after more than 400 children were rescued from welfare homes linked to the company. Police investigations showed that at least 13 of the children were allegedly sodomised or taught to sexually assault others.

GISBH has denied the allegations and any links to the case.
