PETALING JAYA: The police have launched a probe into the shipment of 336kg of heroin from Malaysia to Australia.

The drugs, said to be worth some A$268.8 million (RM790 million), was seized by Australian authorities in Brisbane, in the state of Queensland, on March 13.

In a statement, Bukit Aman police secretary Noorsiah Saaduddin said the authorities were investigating the matter based on information they received from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

It was previously reported that the drugs were found during an inspection of a container from Malaysia.

The drugs were hidden in cement blocks and test results confirmed it was heroin.

According to Australian news reports, it was the largest-ever drug bust in Queensland and the second largest in the country.
