‘Teach your senior leaders to have manners’, Dr Akmal reminds DAP’s Dr Kelvin

SHAH ALAM – Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh issued a stern warning to DAP’s Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen, urging him to instruct his senior leaders on proper conduct, following accusations of rudeness stemming from Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok’s remarks on halal certification.

In a statement, Dr Akmal called on the Bandar Kuching MP to reflect on who initiated the controversy and to refrain from interfering in Malay-Muslim affairs.

He cautioned that any form of disrespect or provocation toward the Malay-Muslim community would not go unnoticed and would be met with firm resistance.

“Look at who started this issue. Teach your senior leaders to have manners.

“Don’t stir up a hornet’s nest, and don’t meddle in Malay-Muslim matters.

“If you don’t want us to act rudely, don’t provoke us,” he said in response to Dr Kelvin.

The heated exchange follows Kok’s opposition to a proposal by the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim), which would require all food establishments not serving pork or alcohol to obtain halal certification.

Dr Akmal also added that while Umno Youth advocates for harmony and good relations with all communities, there is a boundary that must not be crossed when it comes to respect.

“We are willing to be friends and get along with anyone, and we will repay kindness with even greater goodwill to those with good character,” he said.

However, he made it clear that there would be consequences if this respect was violated.

“If you have no character and lose your decorum, we will show you what real rudeness and insolence are,” he said.
