Woman kidnapped by husband for refusing holiday retreat

PETALING JAYA: A woman was taken against her will by her husband after she refused to go on holiday with him to Kelantan.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 21) that the 38-year-old complainant was approached on Oct 12 by two unknown men at an apartment in Jalan Ampang.

They told her that her husband was waiting for her at the staircase and when she went to meet him, she was brought to a car where she was then driven against her will to Kelantan.

She was then locked up in a homestay in Pasir Puteh before successfully escaping on Oct 13 when the husband was asleep.

“On Oct 19 a police team arrested two men in Taman Ampang. The first man is aged 39 and works as a tahfiz manager and is the complainant’s husband. The second is a 30-year-old man that works as a tahfiz school assistant.

“The incident occurred after the complainant refused to follow him on holiday to Kelantan, and for refusing to register the status of their marriage. She is also the suspect’s third wife. Both men have been remanded until Oct 24,” he said.

The case is being investigated for kidnaping, under Section 365 of the Penal Code.
