Transport Company’s Permit Suspended After Death Of Unborn Baby In Perak Accident

Recently, a driver posted a dashcam recording, dated 29 October 2022, showing the moment a father-to-be lost his unborn baby. The video upset and angered netizens who sympathized with the new family.

On that day, the man and his pregnant wife were travelling in a car in Grik, Perak, when some of the cargo from an oncoming speeding lorry hurtled towards them and sent their vehicle off the road.

The 34-week pregnant lady was not only injured but lost her baby, who was due to be delivered in a few weeks.

Kosmo reported that the woman suffered from broken bones in her spine and chest, and brain and heart injuries.

Her anguished husband said he would not forgive the guilty parties even if they called to check on the family to offer condolences or seek forgiveness.

Instead, he hoped the logistics company will provide an explanation of why they used a truck to transport that particular type of cargo and overloaded the vehicle.

He also hoped that the lorry driver would face the full extent of the law fairly.

The lorry driver initially ran away from the scene but was apprehended by the police at a roadblock in Jeli, Kelantan.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has ordered the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to take action on the logistics company and the lorry driver.

He also sympathised with the family on Facebook and wrote that the company’s operating permit will be suspended until an audit on all its lorries has been conducted and approved.
