Two brothers were killed after the Honda Accord they were in fell into a monsoon drain in front of the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Department station in Ipoh, Astro Awani reported.

The deceased were identified as R. Dhaarnish, 29, and R. Shaamalen, 22.

ACP Yahaya said the 22-year-old man was a Universiti Malaysia Perlis student while the elder brother is an engineer in Singapore.



According to The Star, they were on the way home in Taman Desa Meru from a friend’s house in Kuala Kangsar.

Unfortunately, the younger brother lost control of the car and it crashed through a side barrier and fell into the drain.

The police received a call from a member of the public around 6.11am stating there was an accident at Jalan Jelapang-Chemor in front of the fire and rescue department station.

A witness said there were no other cars involved in the pre-dawn incident. The Perak Fire and Rescue Department believes the accident occurred around 5.20am.



Fire and Rescue Department personnel found the brothers trapped in the wrecked car.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
